How is my greyhound responsible for all of this?

We had a greyhound that we dearly loved for many years. She was a great dog and a great companion. Like all dogs, they live to break your heart someday when they leave. When Bella was approaching 15 she was pretty feeble and my wife and I decided that we wouldn’t do any travel because caring for the dog was a bigger task than we wanted to ask someone to do. Early in the summer of 2017 she passed on. Along with our grief was the realization that we could travel now. We had a short window to book travel for something at the end of the summer. Among all our choices we decided on Iceland. After a whirlwind week in Iceland, we knew we had to come back. Yes, this was Bella’s gift to us and now I’m going back for 5 months on a Fulbright Scholar Award.
